Moldova Joins SEPA
🇲🇩 Moldova has officially joined SEPA, marking a new era of faster and cheaper euro payments.
As of October 6, 2025, Moldova has become a full member of SEPA — the Single Euro Payments Area. This milestone represents a historic leap forward for the country’s financial system and reaffirms its strategic path toward integration with the European Union.
“Moldova’s integration into SEPA is a historic moment for our national financial system and confirms the country’s European direction,” said Anca Dragu, President of the National Bank of Moldova.
Before joining SEPA, the cost of a single international transfer from Moldova ranged from €20 to €200. Now, thanks to this integration, payments will be processed under EU domestic rates and standards — typically just a few euros or even free.
💰 Real Benefits for Businesses
According to the National Bank of Moldova, exporters are expected to save around €20 million per year due to reduced transaction costs when trading with the EU. These savings can be redirected toward growth, scaling operations, or reducing end-user prices.
In the first phase, eight leading Moldovan banks have already obtained SEPA participant status — opening a new level of access to European financial infrastructure for both businesses and private clients.
