Latvia Postpones B2B E-Invoicing Until 2027
The Latvian government is delaying the rollout of mandatory electronic invoicing for domestic B2B transactions. The new deadline: January 1, 2027.
Back in October 2024, Latvia adopted amendments to the Accounting Law, mandating that all locally registered companies switch to electronic invoicing for B2B transactions starting January 2026. However, real-world implementation has proven to be more complex than anticipated.
According to the Ministry of Smart Governance and Regional Development, many businesses are facing difficulties with system integration, data standardization, and the alignment of internal processes. As a result, the government has proposed to delay the e-invoicing mandate until 2027.
What does this mean for your business?
This extension gives companies one more year to:
- Implement or upgrade electronic document management systems;
- Optimize accounting and reporting processes;
- Accelerate automation in financial operations.
However, this is not a signal to delay preparations. E-invoicing is not just about regulatory compliance — it’s a strategic move toward digital efficiency, transparency, and competitiveness in the modern business landscape.
