One of Spain’s largest banks, Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), has received approval from the national securities regulator to offer Bitcoin and Ethereum trading services. BBVA has officially confirmed the launch of a service enabling clients to securely manage their cryptocurrency holdings via its banking app. This step aligns with the global trend of integrating digital assets into the traditional financial system.

At the beginning of 2024, the Spanish Ministry of Finance announced plans to increase oversight of cryptocurrency transactions, including the ability to seize digital assets to cover tax debts.
